WHAT: Understand the opportunities computer networks offer for communication

SMART START:

Make a list of everything that you can think of that is connected to the Internet.

HOW:

A computer network is more than one electronic device with the ability to connect and share resources.

Activity 1

Investigate how people communicated before the Internet was created.

List the additional methods for communications, now that we have the Internet.

Computer networks have given us new opportunities for global communication. In the past, if a UK business wanted to work closely with an Australian business then they needed to communicate via phone, post or by visiting each other in person. This was costly, slow and ineffective. Now, it is only the time difference that hinders communication.
